Literate Machine is useful for distribution of free digital products, sales of commercial digital products, and promotion of other products.

For readers and art-lovers, Literate Machine offers a community and an easy marketplace and resource to find the kind of independent content they can't find elsewhere.

For distribution and sales, Literate Machine allows you to upload your own comic books, e-books, magazines and artworks and offer them for download.

• You can offer the work as a free download and anyone will be able to come to the site get a copy.
• You can sell it and Literate Machine will take care of the credit card transactions. You can set the price to whatever you want, with a minimum of $1.00. Literate Machine takes 20% plus $0.30 of every transaction. Our portion also helps cover the cost of the credit card transactions themselves, as well as the cost of maintaining the site. So if you charge $5.00 for a product and someone purchases it, you get $3.70 and we get $1.30.
• Payments will be mailed to you as checks each time your total owed reaches $20.
• We accept international payments.

For promotion, Literate Machine allows you to create previews of print and other products and use the site's community to promote them. You can, for instance, put up PDF previews of print comics and then invite people to come and download them, using our built-in friend and notification systems, as well as our forums and chat.
